Leigh founded 50 Degrees North nineteen years ago with one bold aim: to create homes that clients love to live in. Design, retrofit and repurpose are in Leigh’s blood; from the age of sixteen he helped out at the architectural practice where his mother worked.
Bringing this experience to bear on client’s homes is a source of joy and pride. Career highlights include being a core member of the BedZED project team, presenting ideas for zero-energy skyscrapers to Sir Richard Rogers, and having 50 Degrees’ work published in industry journals and magazines.
While Leigh’s CV is illustrious, the golden thread that ties it to his work in residential architecture is the impact on clients. Much of Leigh’s work focuses on sustainability and making the environment in which we all live – not only our homes – more pleasant. He has featured in architecture programmes for the BBC and Channel 4, sharing his knowledge and passion for architecture.
Leigh’s enthusiasm is infectious and clients appreciate his can-do attitude to just about everything! Despite his superhuman design skills, Leigh would be the first to admit he couldn’t run the show alone. He is immensely proud of the team he has assembled. And while Leigh leads the practice, perhaps his greatest skill is in recognising the value of teamwork to help clients fulfil their vision.
